
About Us
Founded in 1963, the Ateneo Chemistry Society (ACheS) is the home organization of chemistry students and chemistry enthusiasts in the Ateneo. ACheS is focused on utilizing chemistry as a tool towards progressive nation-building by solving the nation’s problems one step at a time.
The Ateneo Chemistry Society is a community that shares a passion in promoting the relevant application of chemistry for social engagement towards progressive nation-building.

Driven by the desire to provide a deeper understanding of chemistry to others, the organization aims to enrich the appreciation of this science in everyday life by transforming its concepts into experience through innovative and creative projects.
Awareness and Appreciation of Chemistry
The organization aims to promote the presence of chemistry and its importance in daily life by providing avenues to promote this presence and relevance.

Social Application of Chemistry
The organization aims to use chemistry as a tool for nation-building by engaging communities inside and outside the organization through its various initiatives.

The Team

ORG MODERATOR
The designated faculty adviser to the Executive Board and the organization, responsible for overseeing the activities of the organization in line with the guidelines set by the Office of Student Activities.
Anna Carissa M. San Esteban, PhD
Dr. Anna Carissa San Esteban finished her PhD at Osaka University where she was a recipient of the MEXT and Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarships. She is a licensed chemist with extensive research training in the Philippines, Japan, and USA, specializing in electrochemistry and coordination chemistry for solar and hydrogen technologies. She is currently the Head of Training and Workshops for the Philippine Institute of Pure and Applied Chemistry (PIPAC) as well as an assistant professor in Ateneo de Manila University, teaching lecture and laboratory classes in General, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry for B.S. Chemistry Students.

ORG ADVISER
Acts as consultant to the Executive Board of the organization and provides guidance and support to aid the organization’s formation efforts.
Philip Gabriel M. Opao
Mr. Philip Gabriel Opao is a Batch 2019 graduate of B.S. Chemistry at Ateneo de Manila University. After graduating, he became a licensed chemist and worked as a Science Research Specialist for the National Chemistry Instrumentation Center from 2020 to 2021. He is currently a training coordinator for the Philippine Institute of Pure and Applied Chemistry (PIPAC) as well as a Science Research Specialist I and lecturer at the Ateneo de Manila University, where he conducts laboratory classes in General, Analytical, and Physical Chemistry.

The Vice President for Creative Communications spearheads the branding, publications, and promotional requests of the organization while managing the official social media accounts and website of the organization.

The Vice President for Finance and Sales efficiently manages the flow of organization finances and spearheads the semester and yearly allocation of the organizational budget along with the organization’s President.

The Vice President for Member Development directs holistic member formation and development through recreational activities of the Society that are exclusive to its members.

The Vice President for Public Relations submits a proposed list of possible sponsors, along with a memorandum of agreement template, to all the Public Relations deputies and Marketing Heads.

The Vice President for Research and Academics directs research efforts and organizes academic activities geared towards effective science communication, socially relevant applications, or chemistry appreciation.
